Here at Thompsons we offer acupuncture for your pet.
Acupuncture has been used for centuries by most eastern countries and around the world. It is used for various conditions.
You can use it as part of the traditional chinese medicine or from a scientific western approach.
With both approaches the main aim is to change disease and mostly alleviate pain by inserting needles into various points on the body.
Anke has studied acupuncture with the ABVA and uses it regularly.
Most animals we treat are chronic pain cases especially for conditions like back pain caused by spondylosis and osteoarthritis, hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia. We also see a good response for urinary incontinence and other urinary diseases.
We recommend an initial consultation to discuss the treatment. For chronic diseases we suggest that you attend at least 4 sessions to assess the response. After this we tailor the treatment to your pets needs.
Most pets accept the needling very well. Sometimes they feel a slight discomfort when the needles are put into place, but they do relax afterwards. The aim is that it is a pleasant experience for your pet.
If you have any questions feel free to ask at the reception or speak to Anke.
